Behind the Stand: Milola’s Journey to Chelsea Harbour

Wow—what can I say? London Design Week 2025 truly didn’t disappoint.
To everyone who stopped by our stand—thank you. Your kind words, enthusiasm, and thoughtful feedback on our new collections meant the world. It was such a joy meeting so many of you in person and talking design face-to-face. I’ll be honest—preparing for an event like this is always a bit nerve-wracking. Will the stand come together as envisioned? Will the new designs resonate? Will the investment of time and resources be worth it? I’d been working almost non-stop since January—late nights, weekends, the works. It felt a little mad at times, but launching so many new designs meant an avalanche of detail to get right. And of course, that lingering question: will it all pay off?
I’m thrilled to say—it absolutely did. The stand looked beautiful, and I couldn’t be more grateful to our incredible collaborators: The Soho Lighting Company, The Headboard Company, and Rupert Bevan. Their stunning pieces elevated the entire space and made it feel like a room I’d happily have in my own home. Our showstopper? Our Grasscloth Paris Suzani wallpaper lining the back wall. After a failed attempt to tape it up (lesson learned—paste is the only way forward with wallpaper!), it looked fantastic and drew constant attention. So much so, it sold straight off the stand!

From the moment the doors opened, we were completely run off our feet—in the best way. The lovely Sarah was by my side the whole time, and honestly, I couldn’t have done it without her. She was not only hands-on during the show but a technical whiz in prepping the stand beforehand.

Our new launches were met with such excitement—Serafina Stripe stole the show, with Amalita a close behind. A few designs were real wild cards—I hadn’t been completely sure about them, as some colours printed a little differently than expected. In fact, with Amalita in White, I debated not showing it at all. But an early visitor to the stand—an interior designer whose opinion I really trust—convinced me to put everything out there. I'm so glad I did. The feedback was resounding: Amalita in White had to be part of the collection.

There was a lovely sense of discovery around the Milola brand—both for visitors and for me. I got to see how designers instinctively paired pieces together in ways I don’t always get to witness once the samples leave the studio. Standouts included Takla Stripe in Multi with our classic Have a Seat in Multi, and the surprising but delightful pairing of Mr. Z Magic with Soul Sister in Pale Blue or Bohemian Star in Ice Blue.

One of my biggest takeaways from the week? Trust your instincts. I’d been told before that Mr. Z Magic didn’t quite align with the rest of the brand—a tough pill to swallow since it’s been a favourite of my daughter’s since she was six. (She’s now ten and still refuses to let me swap it out of her bedroom—even for photo styling!) But at the show, it quickly became clear that Mr. Z Magic has its place. By day two, the number of sample requests from top interior designers said it all—he’s not going anywhere.

Thank you again to everyone who stopped by, shared kind words, and connected with our fabric and wallpaper collections. It was a joy, and I’m already dreaming up what’s next.
As the Easter break arrives, I hope you find a moment to pause, recharge, and surround yourself with things that inspire you—whether it’s colour, pattern, nature, or simply a bit of quiet.
Wishing you a joyful and restorative Easter.
With love,
